Relaxation is the freedom of tension and flexibility is the freedom of movement. Both encompass strength and balance and are a big part of the foundation for living happily and well. Nurturing and achieving physical and mental strength and balance through relaxation practices is at the heart of MobilityYoga . We use meditation, breathing and flexibility practices. Breathing in and breathing out is something we do about 22.000 times a day without realizing it. We are powered by the breath and the brain controls it. How fast or slow we breathe is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. If we are stressed we breath fast, if we are relaxed we breath slowly. Awareness of how we breath changes the way we breath and it changes the way we feel. At MobilityYoga we use breathing practices to promote physical and mental balance and relaxation. Meditation practices teach us awareness and focus. A focused mind is calm and clear. Regular meditation practices enhance physical and mental balance and strength. At MobilityYoga we use various techniques to focus the mind: breath, body sensations, sounds, visualizations. It depends on what you like. You can sit in a meditation posture or lay down comfortably. Our favorite meditation practice uses all the above mentioned techniques as well as a body scan. It is very powerful energy-work for profound relaxation and balance at all levels. Flexibility practices embrace long hold stretches that relax and release tension in the body and increase range of motion. During long hold stretches awareness is on the breath and the body sensations. I am practicing yoga over two decades. I am Yoga Alliance certified and completed various additional trainings (Yoga Nidra, Pranayama, Breath coach, Dharma Yoga Wheel, Yoga Trapeze, Accessible Yoga etc.) and continue to study and take courses in Yoga Philosophy and Meditation practices.
